About Lee
Hi, I’m Lee Ashby – creator of the Life Values Method™.
Today my main focus is helping practitioners, like coaches and therapists to apply values work in a way that’s structured, grounded, and easy to use in real-life sessions.
I also work with individuals using my Method in 1:1 sessions. Together, we uncover clarity and build a simple values-based plan to help you move forward again.
Why I Created the Life Values Method
The Life Values Method™ grew out of what Jacqui and I were seeing in her work with couples.
When values are unclear or unspoken, couples tend to:
- Argue about the surface issues, without getting to the deeper needs.
- Feel misunderstood, even when they’re trying.
- Get stuck repeating the same old patterns.
- Struggle to make aligned decisions together.
And the same thing happens for individuals, too. We see burnout, drifting, resentment, or over-functioning – all out of balance with their values.
We needed a way to bring values into the room in a practical, engaging way – to start conversations and get to the why sooner – without beating around the bush.
That’s where the original Life Values deck began.
From the Deck... The Method Was Born
Jacqui and I co-created the original Life Values deck as a practical hands-on tool to help clients quickly uncover what matters most.
For couples this meant discovering their shared values, and having values-led conversations that lead to insight, and understanding each other better.
As the deck was used more and more, further exercises were developed, and it became a foundational pillar for Jacqui’s programs and her couples’ success.
That lead to me building out a complete system – now known as the Life Values Method™.
It’s a structured framework that includes:
- Guided exercises over common life themes.
- Questions and prompts for both practitioners and clients.
- The Life Values Alignment Grid for spotting patterns and alignment issues.
- The Life Values Virtual Deck with predefined sets and power combos.
The goal was to help practitioners implement values work in a clear, simple way – that clients find empowering and useful.
Who the Method is For?
For Practitioners:
If you’re a coach, counsellor, therapist, or helping professional interested in values work, the Practitioner Kit has everything you need to get up and running.
For Individuals:
I also work directly with individuals using the Method. It’s especially helpful for people who feel stuck, uncertain, burnt out, or pulled in too many directions.
If you’re in that place, values clarity can be the difference between staying stuck, or stepping up with confidence to make better decisions with more clarity and alignment to achieve what you really want.
My style is friendly, practical, and action-oriented, helping you with honest support and helpful tools for steady progress at a pace that works for you.
My Journey - What I Bring to the Table
I began my career in IT and government and moved through different roles including analysis, strategy, mapping, design, and performance-focused work. Over time, I realised I wanted to do work that felt more meaningful and human.
In 2016, Jacqui and I founded Jacqueline Hogan Couples Counselling, which has since grown into a thriving practice.
I retrained in life coaching and psychology studies, and deepened the business side through marketing and product development.
Together we have now spent 10 years running the business – developing resources, building systems, and creating programs that have supported hundreds of clients.
That background shaped how I work today: I’m both client focused and systems-minded. I care about what works, what lasts, and what clients can actually use when things get messy.
My Life Values
Values aren’t just a topic for me – they’re how I try to live (not perfectly, but consciously).
My current top 10 Life Values are:
- Vitality – For health, happiness, and operating at my best.
- Integrity – For living honestly and authentically.
- Love – For evolving together in relationships and community.
- Courage – For doing what’s right, even when it’s hard.
- Trust – For grounded, responsible connection.
- Creativity – For flow, innovation, and building great things.
- Adventure – For expanding my mind and experiences.
- Meaning – For helping others and making a difference.
- Connection – For being present, listening, and lifting others.
- Fulfilment – For living fully, not just surviving.
These values help shape my decisions, relationships, and work.
Their impact is why I’m so passionate about helping people uncover theirs.
